This week on Open Sources Guelph, we’re at the anger stage of grief. The anger is directed at our bloody, complex past and the discovery of more crimes against Canada’s Indigenous peoples, but it’s also directed at some politicians in the United States who want to forget the recent past. After working through our grief, we will talk to Ontario’s Liberal leader, and the fight he’s getting ready for one year from today! Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday August 29, 2019
This week on Open Sources Guelph, we wind down the summer with a relaxing look at the schizophrenic diplomatic situation around the world. Seriously, the global political order is not coming apart at the seams, it just feels like it. Anyway, we’ll talk about that ball of zany that sums up the lost weekend at the France hosted G7, and we’ll look at the seriously explosive situation in Kashmir. Closer to home, we’ll look at the past politics of the Federal Conservative leader, and whether there’s a possibility that a more rational Republican might unseat the standard-bearer in 2020. Old Grey Mare She Ain’t What She Used to Be
So this made a lot of news, and understandably so because it is hilarious as hell. Last week, at an event in Kissimmee, FL, Republican Presidential candidate (sigh) Donald Trump did his usual stump speech, but the news kept on coming long after he left the stage and supporters were filing out of the venue. One old guy, a member of the legion of over-45 set that Trump has attracted in large numbers, saw the media pen and thought he would give them a piece of his mind, and it went a little something like this… Continue reading “Old Grey Mare She Ain’t What She Used to Be”
Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday November 12, 2015
The honeymoon’s over this week on Open Sources Guelph. A little more than a week into the Trudeau-rific era, and Canada’s getting hosed by the TPP, approving the dumping of sewage into our favourite river, and what’s this we hear about the budget being in deficit before Justin Trudeau puts it into deficit? Yeah, it’s pretty rough out there, but not as rough as some people. Suicide rates are increasing amongst middle-aged white men, while in the United States, a middle-aged black man is killing his chances to become president with some creative re-writting of his biography. Donald Trump Has Demands RE: Further Republican Debates
It’s the worst kept secret that the Republican Presidential candidates have thought that last week’s CNBC debate treated them tremendously unfair – in fact we touched on it during last week’s show – but Donald Trump seems ready to take debate demands to the next level. Getting a bump in the polls and the attention from being centre stage at the debate not enough? No, says the businessman Trump, he wants cash! Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday October 29, 2015
On this week’s episode of Open Sources Guelph, we leave the Federal Election behind and dig into new issues and some old ones. In the first half, we’ll be checking in with Canada’s First Nations people as they continue to struggle for fair treatment and equality only to be stymied at every turn. In the United States, they too are a but hungover from an election, but they still have a little over a year to go till theirs is over. And finally, we’ll consider a new thought about a favourite fall holiday. Continue reading “Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday October 29, 2015”
