Open Sources Show Notes for November 19, 2020

This week on Open Sources Guelph, we’ve got the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse: Plague, Death, War, and Spite. One of those may not be an actual Horseman, put it is a fairly succinct description of the current occupant of the White House who is letting Plague and Death run unchecked. Things aren’t much better plague-wise speaking here in Ontario, or in the rest of Canada, and that’s where War comes in. He’s got his own room in Alberta and everything! Open Sources Show Notes for February 27, 2020

This week on Open Sources Guelph, it’s more of the same hits as we look at the now expanded rail blockades, and the latest from the race to find the 46th American President. In new stuff, we’ll look at the latest test to Canada’s laws regarding sex work, and we’ll have an appropriately timed conversation with the Minister for Women (and other things). Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday January 17, 2019

On Open Sources Guelph this week, we’ll continue our ongoing coverage of the slow decline of western civilization. In the U.K., Brexit comes to a full boil, and in the U.S., the Russian investigation goes back on the front burner as the President, somehow, looks dirtier. Here in Canada there’s not much more to be proud of. Justin Trudeau shuffled his cabinet, but is he really just shuffling deck chairs on a sinking ship, even while his Reconciliation dreams become a new nightmare? Oh, the pain! Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday October 12, 2017

Open Sources Guelph is your voice for depressing news. Not always, of course, but definitely this week. For instance, we have to talk again about why Truth and Reconciliation with our Indigenous people seems just as far away as it’s ever been. We also have to talk about why there seems to be no new help for Guelph’s most vulnerable people. And to top it all off, we have to talk about why another beloved pipeline will never see the light of day. Okay, so that last topic is not so depressing to some, especially this week’s guests who are two leaders of the Green Party.  Continue reading “Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday October 12, 2017”

Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday August 3, 2017

This week on Open Sources Guelph, we’re going green. For the first half anyway. We’ll have an interview with a not-so-well known but now very influential Green Party politician, and no, it’s not Mike Schreiner. (He was on a few weeks ago.) Speaking of green though, we will dig into a contentious environmental and legal issue, and talk about why it’s so darn hard for our prime minister to stop having his picture taken… Continue reading “Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday August 3, 2017”

This week on Open Sources Guelph, we’re all about tragedy. From the terrible loss of life in a small Saskatchewan community, to the end of a Guelph institution and another casualty in the slow decline of the printed news. In between, we’ll talk about the very loud sometimes comedic but terribly passionate debate about pipelines. Continue reading “Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday January 28, 2016”
