Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday June 27, 2019

This week on Open Sources Guelph is no jaunty burger flipping affair. Of course, we weren’t the ones demoted from being finance minister after just one budget, but it’s hard to believe that’s a cause for celebration. We’re going to cover the upheaval at Queen’s Park last week, and speaking of disasters, we’ll revisit the Trump White House again. In the back half of the show, we’ll look at the ongoing concerns of election security, and the potentially greater threat of nuclear power (or is it a threat?). Continue reading

Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday June 20, 2019

This week on Open Sources Guelph, we revisit a couple of our favourite people, one is a youthful, active, left-leaning Canadian politician in his late-40s, and the other is an inactive, inattentive, and far-right leaning American businessman turned politician in his mid-70s. Who are they? Well, they’re not one of the councillors from Guelph’s fourth ward, who will be our special guest in studio this week. Continue reading

Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday June 6, 2019

This week on Open Sources Guelph, we’re going to tackle head on a national tragedy. Even though it’s Indigenous History Month in June, a time for celebration, we’re going to do a deep dive into the end of the Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, and the other issues our First Nations people are facing. Then, a humour break, as Donald Trump once again storms the diplomatic world. And finally, we’ll talk about how the world seems to be turning on alternative medicine. Continue reading

Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday April 25, 2019

This week on Open Sources Guelph we learn again that elections have consequences. Here in Canada, we’ll look at the consequences of two very big provincial elections at either end of the country, and here in Ontario we’ll again look at what happens when you elect a party with no costed platform. But hey, it could be worse. The head of your government might be an unindicted co-conspirator who may only not be in jail right now because he’s President of the United States! Continue reading

Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday April 11, 2019

This week on Open Sources Guelph, we look to the future. Not the type of future with jetpacks and stuff, but the more immediate future about the 2019 Federal Election. Specifically, are we doing enough to tackle the creeping alt-right, not to mention foreign influencers looking to peddle? Back in the present, we’ll look at the new Ontario government’s first budget, and the doings south of the border at the other southern border. Continue reading

Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday March 28, 2019

This week on Open Sources Guelph many of our ongoing stories lines come to a head, but it’s not exactly the end of the story. We’ll look at the questions that still linger even though the Mueller Report has been delivered. We’ll cover the beginning of the Alberta election, which might be the end of one brief dynasty. Abroad, we’ll look at the exit that didn’t happen, but still might, and then a candidate in Israel’s election seems to be depending on some of that foreign interference. Continue reading

Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday March 14, 2019

This week on Open Sources Guelph, we play catch-up, and man, there is a lot of news out there, so we have to take our hour this week and cover all points. We’re going to start in Ottawa where the SNC Lavalin affair has gone on simmer, but there are other controversies. Then it’s off to Ontario and Alberta to look at the provincial political situation. And the last stop, of course, is Washington D.C. where things got very litigious for the President’s former friends. Continue reading
