Anonymous Threatens Bombshell on Baird for Tuesday

Earlier this summer, the hackitivst group Anonymous said that they had damning information about the “real reason” that former Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird resigned his seat and his cabinet position earlier this year. That was back at the end of July, and not much has been heard from Anonymous on the subject, which is weird considering that we’re more than a month into the election. Well, as they say, timing is everything, and a new communique from Anonymous early this morning promises that those revelations will be finally made public this week.

Here’s the tweet that Anonymous sent out this morning:

The source of this supposed bombshell against Baird is a CSIS leak that was carried out in response to the RCMP shooting of a protester said to be a member of Anonymous in Dawson Creek, B.C. in July. James McIntyre, a 48-year-old man, was shot by the RCMP outside a hotel where a meeting about a dam project was taking place.

McIntyre allegedly approached the officers in an aggressive manner while wearing a mask, though not necessarily the Guy Fawkes mask associated with the hacktivist group. The police were called to the scene about a man causing a disturbance, but McIntyre was not the man that the police were alerted to, and there’s some disagreement in witness statements about just how aggressive McIntyre was acting.

Whether or not Anonymous has something on Baird is a big question, but the bigger question has remained about why Baird suddenly left the government in the first place this past February. So do Anonymous have the goods? I guess we’ll find out Tuesday.
