Open Sources Show Notes for December 19, 2019

This week on Open Sources Guelph, we take one last kick at the breaking news can before the holiday break. We’ll tackle what’s going on in Canada as the Prime Minister makes the end-of-year media rounds, we’ll look at the latest from the quest to remove Trump from office, and we’ll talk to the youths about how they’re trying to help those that need the most help during the winter months. Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday July 25, 2019

This week on Open Sources Guelph, we’re wondering if anyone’s going on summer vacation. In Ottawa, the news keeps coming even as we’re counting down to a fall election. In the United States, the special counsel is back in the news despite his best efforts. In the U.K. there’s a new sheriff in town, and he’s going to make people do what he wants on Brexit (apparently). And finally, not to disturb your calm, but the rent is pretty damn expensive here in Canada, and we have the data to prove it now.  Continue reading “Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday July 25, 2019”

Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday April 4, 2019

It’s a new month, but it’s business as usual in news on this week’s edition of Open Sources Guelph. Most of that is thanks to Ottawa, and the never-ending scandal about that one Montreal engineering firm and the politicians trying to cover for it, but there is new news out there. In one small island in Canada, they may be flirting with an entirely new type of government, but will they seal the deal? So there’s that, and we’ll try and get some insight at the intersection of Federal and local with Guelph’s Member of Parliament. Continue reading “Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday April 4, 2019”

Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday March 7, 2019

This week, Open Sources Guelph will give up cynicism for Lent. Just kidding! We might as well give up breathing!! So considering that, we’ll spend this week talking about the end of the Liberal Party of Canada, and the death knell of the New Democrats. Good thing we didn’t give up hyperbole for Lent either. In any event, we’ll welcome back an old friend from Ward 2 to talk about the budget, and all the latest issues from City Hall. Continue reading “Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday March 7, 2019”

Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday February 21, 2019

We’re back! After taking a week off to help CFRU mark Black History Month, Open Sources Guelph returns with more stories than you can shake a stick at. So let’s start shaking! We will metaphorically march on Queen’s Park, as everyone seems to be doing, since everyone seems to have a beef with the provincial government these days. Next, we’ll go to the Federal government, where they’re certainly not immune from scandal. Speaking of immunity, there’s not much of it anymore thanks to Anti-vaxxers. And speaking of contagions, we’ll say goodbye to a dream called “HQ2” because of creeping socialism. Continue reading “Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday February 21, 2019”

It’s time to get out on the streets and celebrate another news-filled week all distilled into one fine hour of community radio on Open Sources Guelph. For the third week in a row, we address the growing crisis for that country swimming in so much debt there’s no good options for them. The debt tour will continue to our own backyard where there’s absolutely no guarantee that there will be a return on the substantial investment into an event that’s not the Olympics, but close enough. Dead fraudsters and the self-defeating act of having a referendum to raise taxes is also on the docket as your summer vacation takes a kinds of serious turn.
