Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday July 25, 2019

This week on Open Sources Guelph, we’re wondering if anyone’s going on summer vacation. In Ottawa, the news keeps coming even as we’re counting down to a fall election. In the United States, the special counsel is back in the news despite his best efforts. In the U.K. there’s a new sheriff in town, and he’s going to make people do what he wants on Brexit (apparently). And finally, not to disturb your calm, but the rent is pretty damn expensive here in Canada, and we have the data to prove it now.  Continue reading

Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday April 25, 2019

This week on Open Sources Guelph we learn again that elections have consequences. Here in Canada, we’ll look at the consequences of two very big provincial elections at either end of the country, and here in Ontario we’ll again look at what happens when you elect a party with no costed platform. But hey, it could be worse. The head of your government might be an unindicted co-conspirator who may only not be in jail right now because he’s President of the United States! Continue reading

Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday March 28, 2019

This week on Open Sources Guelph many of our ongoing stories lines come to a head, but it’s not exactly the end of the story. We’ll look at the questions that still linger even though the Mueller Report has been delivered. We’ll cover the beginning of the Alberta election, which might be the end of one brief dynasty. Abroad, we’ll look at the exit that didn’t happen, but still might, and then a candidate in Israel’s election seems to be depending on some of that foreign interference. Continue reading

Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday August 30, 2018

It’s the end of summer for us all, but it’s no where near the end of controversy here on Open Sources Guelph. As we prepare to dive deeply into the municipal election, we’ll take a quick peak at the provincial election next door. Meanwhile, south of the border, it seems like we’re reaching a climax on NAFTA renegotiations, all while the President swallows the bitter pill of decency. Speaking of decent, we’ll wrap up with discussion about the Catholic Church’s latest troubles. Continue reading

Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday November 2, 2017

Welcome to November, and can you believe it’s almost been a year since Donald Trump was first elected as President of the United States? Neither can we. It’s felt like three years! But seriously, the man himself will be one of the topics on this week’s Open Sources Guelph, as we dive into the highly consequential events this past Monday and what it means going forward. We’ll also talk about the recent attack in New York, and why it seems to be treated differently than *other* recent events, and we’ll have a sit down chat with a provincial cabinet member who is not our MPP.  Continue reading
