Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday August 31, 2017

This week on Open Sources Guelph, we laboured to make our pre-Labour show Trump-free, but the man can’t let a week go by without blowing the doors off another political norm, and last Friday he broke about 12 even as a hurricane was bearing down on the U.S. We’ll have to discuss Trump’s latest move to undermine common decency, but we’ll also talk about the new faces (and positions) in the federal cabinet, and the new routes and schedules for Guelph Transit with the man who runs that service.  Continue reading “Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday August 31, 2017”

Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday August 17, 2017

So what did you do last weekend? Chances are you neither stood for, or against, Nazism and white supremacy, but on this week’s edition of Open Sources Guelph, we will look at someplace that’s change the face, or perhaps revealed the face, of modern America this past Saturday in Virginia. We will dedicate some overtime to that subject this week, and then we will talk about why it’s hard out there to be Conservative in Ontario right now, and what an east coast newspaper’s going to do now that a very long-term strike is over.  Continue reading “Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday August 17, 2017”

Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday July 27, 2017

The people have waited long enough, and it is time again for another episode of Open Sources Guelph. On this week’s show, we’ll talk about the man who loves to talk, and talk, and talk, while digging himself into deeper, and deeper, and deeper holes. After that, we’ll look at what’s going on here in Canada. In Alberta, the unification of the right is going about as well as to be expected, Sears employees are mad as hell but there’s not much they can do about it, and there’s a Facebook page with “proud” in the title that might make you feel less proud if you read it.  Continue reading “Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday July 27, 2017”

Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday July 13, 2017

This is going to be a highly controversial week on Open Sources Guelph, geo-politically speaking. Sadly, we must dip back into Trumpland this week as the race for the title of the President’s stupidest son heated up. Meanwhile, things got pretty heated in Canada as some people thought that $10.5 million was too much to pay for being tortured in a black site, and things might really get heated if North Korea gets the bomb. Back in Canada, we’ve got our fingers crossed for a juicy government grant. Continue reading “Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday July 13, 2017”

Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday June 8, 2017

This week on Open Sources Guelph we go around the world! Not literally, of course, and mostly in North America and the U.K., but what we’re saying is that there are world wide implications. From someone that might be the Prime Minister of Canada if he can get his party’s leadership, to a contest to determine who the leader of the United Kingdom will be, to a guy once called the “Leader of the Free World” but seems not even remotely interested in being a leader in his own house. Politics, elections, the environment and terror are all on the docket for this week’s show.  Continue reading “Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday June 8, 2017”

Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday May 25, 2017

A couple of big, ongoing political storylines are coming to a head on this week’s Open Sources Guelph. Our favourite wildly unqualified President of the United States is been on his first field trip and making new friends (glad that he and the Pope finally buried the hatchet as seen above), and this weekend, the cliffhanger on the leadership of a major Canadian political party will finally be answered. In other news, we’ll welcome an old friend to the show and get the lowdown on the latest goings on with our local government.  Continue reading “Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday May 25, 2017”

Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday May 4, 2017

This week’s Open Sources Guelph will not begin until we’re shown to our villa. But seriously, unlike a certain luxury music festival organized by the man that gave us “Thug Lovin'”, or a certain American administration that we could name, this week’s show will run like a Swiss watch. No guest this week, but we’re going to have lots of discussion about 105 days of Trump, ranked ballots, refusing to pay rent, and why some people this week proved why their best work is behind them.  Continue reading “Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday May 4, 2017”
