Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday August 11, 2016

On this week’s episode of Open Sources Guelph we consider a name change to the show, at least through to November: “What Stupid Stuff Has Donald Trump Said This Week?” Obviously, that’s how we’ll kick off the show, but we’ll try and keep the insanity of “Cheeto Jesus” to a minimum as we look even further south to the Olympic games in Brazil, which aren’t nearly the disaster of the Trump campaign, but close. Then we’ll head out to Vancouver where one type of housing woe has replaced another, before wrapping things up with the delicate politics of Israel, and what one federal political party might have to say about them. Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday April 28, 2016

It’s a gong show! It’s a circus! They’re acting like children! No, that’s not the U.S. Presidential race that people were talking about this week, but yeah, we’ll get to that. On this week’s Open Sources Guelph we’ll tackle Guelph city council’s tackling of leaks and the hour-and-a-half rake out that happened at the meeting Monday. We’ll also catch up with that election south of the border and all its colourful characters, and catch-up with our local Member of Parliament to get all the latest scoop from Ottawa. Continue reading “Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday April 28, 2016”

Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday March 17, 2016

It’s civics, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll on this week’s edition of Open Sources Guelph. Civics because we’ll be hosting a Guelph city councillor in the second half of the show; drugs because we’re going to be talking about Toronto is exploring a new pilot project that’s had great success in Vancouver; and rock ‘n’ roll because of the U.S. Presidential Election, which remains the greatest show on Earth. It’s everything a Nazi Grandma could love. Continue reading “Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday March 17, 2016”

The Weekender: The Best Thing for America is a Trump Win. Seriously.

A couple of months ago, I wrote a piece in this space about how Donald Trump was not Rob Ford, but to look at the situation a different way, perhaps the best thing the American voter can do is get Donald Trump out of their system, like Toronto did with Ford. The come out of nowhere election of Ford in 2010 surprised even the most skeptical of pundits; it floored the media and the political establishment that an unpolished, unpracticed populist with a simple message and a proclivity to stick his foot in his mouth would rise to the highest office in North America’s fourth largest city. On that basis, the comparisons between Trump and Ford are easy, and that’s why we know that the only way Americans are going to shake off the siren song of winning “yuge” is by seeing what four years under Trump looks like. Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday March 3, 2016

So that happened. No matter where you reside on the political spectrum, watching the drama unfold Tuesday night had you on the edge of your seat as an intrepid, trail-blazing woman tried to hold her own against a consortium of powerful men had you mesmerized… But enough about the Agent Carter finale! This week on Open Sources Guelph, we’ll eagerly take up the American political discussion again, and mix in the promised dissection of last week’s Ontario Budget. We’ll also talk about the latest developments in Syria, and take a time trip to Guelph’s General Hospital to look at an emergency room emergency situation. Continue reading “Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday March 3, 2016”

VIDEO – Darth Trump, Dark Lord of the $#!%

“I’m more militaristic than anyone in this room.” Not something you’d typically expect Darth Vader to say, even though it is basically true. However, if that voice coming out of the black mask and breathing regulator belongs to Donald Trump, then that and other bits like “I really good at war. I love war to a certain way, but only when we win,” take the beloved sci-fi villain to all new levels of hilarity. We desperately need a good laugh about Donald Trump, he’s taking the U.S. Presidential race to increasingly higher levels of absurdity and negativity in equal measure, so why not make him the stereotypical villain we’re all starting to see him as? Donald Trump Has Demands RE: Further Republican Debates

It’s the worst kept secret that the Republican Presidential candidates have thought that last week’s CNBC debate treated them tremendously unfair – in fact we touched on it during last week’s show – but Donald Trump seems ready to take debate demands to the next level. Getting a bump in the polls and the attention from being centre stage at the debate not enough? No, says the businessman Trump, he wants cash!
