Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday December 14, 2017
We’re quickly approaching the end of the year and the holiday season here at Open Sources Guelph, and that means this will sadly be our last live show of 2017. We never thought we’d get to the end of 2017, but we did, and we’re relieved. So before diving into our annual political movie picks and awards, we’ll look at the recent election. No, not that election, the one that happened in Canada this week. We’ll also talk about a new guaranteed income plan in Canada, the results of the Guelph City Council debate on the hydro merger, and the year in Guelph politics. Scotty Hertz will be taking some much needed vacation time for the next couple of weeks, which leaves Adam to wonder, “When did Open Sources Guelph add vacation time for staff?” Joking aside, the show, as they say, must go on. And for this week Adam will not fly solo by filling Scotty’s shoes with a pair of special guests, one person to talk about civic matters, and another to talk about science matters. Continue reading “Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday September 7, 2017”
Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday January 5, 2017
We’re back! Well technically, we never went anywhere. There have been new episodes of Open Sources Guelph during the holidays over the last two weeks, but they we’re “canned,” that is to say “pre-recorded.” But we’re back!!! Well, Adam’s back, at least. Scotty had some minor dental surgery this week, so he can’t talk, or maybe he shouldn’t talk. It’s definitely one of the two. Anyway, so it’s the first week of January, we’re back with the live shows, and it’s time to get back to the business of acquainting you with your local politicians. And we’re starting 2017 with the even numbered wards… Continue reading “Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday January 5, 2017”
Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday December 8, 2016
We are a few weeks away from Christmas (and so is everyone else), and here on Open Sources Guelph, we got an early Christmas present. In Alberta, a conservative firebrand was up to his old tricks, getting the scorching rabble all fired about the current premier of Alberta in some very unexpected ways. This story will break up nicely our Royal City focus this week, first as we mark the passing of another political year in Guelph, and then we’ll have a conversation with one of the councillors that represents Open Sources HQ on the University of Guelph campus. Get Your Questions Ready for #AskMayorCam Part 2!
Last year, Open Sources Guelph hosted Guelph Mayor Cam Guthrie for a full-hour of discussion after only just six months since his 2014 election to head of the Royal City’s government. It was a tremendous success, and it was thanks i to you, our beloved audience, who gave us such great questions to ask the mayor live on air. So in the grand Hollywood tradition of doing things so right the first time that we have to do it again for a second, get ready for #AskMayorCam Part 2: Electric Boogaloo!
