Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday June 29, 2017

This week on Open Sources Guelph we’re having summer thoughts. The federal government has risen for the summer, and we will recap a not-so-great couple of months had by the prime minister, and then we will look at the special holiday weekend coming up and what it means to a couple of curmudgeon’s with their own community radio show. But there are some politicians that don’t take the summer off, or they at least don’t take July off. We’ll host another one of the Royal City’s representatives on this week’s show.  Continue reading

Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday March 9, 2017

In order to reaffirm that there’s a world of politics beyond whatever zaniness that comes out of the Twitter feed of the President of the United States, this week’s Open Sources Guelph is proudly Trump-Free. So what will we talk about instead? Well, there are two federal leadership races in progress here in Canada, and the left-wing one has finally decided to make it an actual election by having more than one guy throw his hat into the ring. Then, in the back half of the show, we’ll look at the growing trend of hate here in Canada, one form that the government’s getting blowback for trying to do something about, and another that the government is considering taking action on.  Continue reading

Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday May 7, 2015

This week on Open Sources Guelph, Hell freezes over! Not really, but it did feel like a week where the impossible happened as the election results came back in Alberta. Meanwhile, it looks like Omar Khadr might finally get out of prisoner, but not if anyone in the federal government has anything to say about it. Same goes for parents rallying against changes to the sex ed in Ontario as that debates heats up all over again. And that brings us to a unique event in Garland Texas that seemed tailor-made to antagonizer and ended up doing just that. What a week! Let’s talk about it. Continue reading
