It’s a week of break ups and make ups on this edition of Open Sources Guelph. Across the ocean, one country is deciding today if they’re going to dump the Eurozone experiment like a bad boyfriend that forgets your birthday and never picks up after himself. In Canada, the provinces made the decision to work with the Feds to expand the savings possibilities of the people. Meanwhile, one Conservative politician may be looking to dump his federal party and take his chances with a provincial one, and an old friend is coming by to help out with our ongoing political roast of the presumptive Republican presidential nominee. Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday June 9, 2016

Let’s talk elections this week. Who’s running them, who’s taking part in them, and how some people want to change them. This week on Open Sources Guelph, we will dive back into the U.S. Presidential Election, not for the last time, to talk about the end of the primary process, but maybe we should rename this segment “What stupid thing has Trump said now?” Meanwhile, a key Canadian political figure threw her support behind one of Mr. Trump’s rivals, while the federal government continues to dawdle about our own electoral reform ambitions. This week on Open Sources Guelph, we tackle three tough issues with no easy answer, and one easy topic that’s tough to wrap your head around. The latter refers to the unexpected outcome of the American presidential primary, one half of which was firmly resolved last week with the reality TV star clinching the win. The other three topics cover international finance, the growing spectre of environmental catastrophe (and whether it’s right to politicize that), and the public transit system in the Royal City. It’s a gong show! It’s a circus! They’re acting like children! No, that’s not the U.S. Presidential race that people were talking about this week, but yeah, we’ll get to that. On this week’s Open Sources Guelph we’ll tackle Guelph city council’s tackling of leaks and the hour-and-a-half rake out that happened at the meeting Monday. The Weekender: Sometimes, Sarah Palin Says Something So Dumb…

It’s been a banner year for Sarah Palin. The former Alaska Governor has retaken the political stage as one of the first “establishment” Republicans to jump aboard the Trump train, she welcomed her third grandchild, and she’s going to be getting her own People’s Court-style reality show. That’s nice, but candidly if the world were to forget Sarah Palin ever existed, we wouldn’t be missing anything (and I’m aware of the irony of saying that in the midst of a takedown piece so don’t bother pointing that out). Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday April 7, 2016

Stop us if you’ve heard this one, but it was a very busy news week here for Open Sources Guelph. No special guests today (but they are coming) but there will be lots of discussion on big topics. For instance, it looks like the one per cent is full of tax cheaters, some of whom you may know by name (stop us if you’ve heard this one). In other news, we bravely descend back into the muck of the U.S. Presidential Election, which marches on in perpetuity to find new levels of insanity. In the back half of the show, we’ll talk Canadian politics with a leadership test for a federal leader, and a leadership test passed for a provincial one.
