This week on Open Sources Guelph everybody is fighting! Our national and provincial leaders are gathered to strategize and fight back in a trade war, while the leader of the opposition (in exile) is fighting for his political life so that he can get back into the national debate. Meanwhile, we will talk to an area Indigenous leader who’s helping to lead the fight against legislation they got no say in by taking two different levels of government to court. Can’t we all just get along?! Continue reading “Open Sources (Ep. #529) Show Notes for July 24, 2025”

Open Sources (Ep. #485) Show Notes for September 19, 2024
This week on Open Sources Guelph we’re going to try and tone down the rhetoric. But can we still be spicy? Probably, the news certainly is! If you think it’s hot up in Ottawa this first week back from summer vacation, just wait until you hear about what’s been going on in the United States lately. And for the interview in the back half, we’ve got a grocery list of issues about food insecurity, and we will be joined someone who knows how to fix them. Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday November 24, 2016
Here on Open Sources Guelph, we can’t guarantee that we’ll always get them right, but also promise not to intentionally mislead you. It’s an important distinction this week as we dig into the phenomenon of fake news, and whether or not it had an effect on the U.S. Presidential election. Also this week, we’ll talk about how if you can walk and talk, you can go to Brock, and get elected to Queen’s Park as we look at the Ontario by-elections. We’ll also look ahead to the 2017 British Columbia provincial election, and how in another 13 years, Santa won’t be able to leave coal in your stocking anymore. Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday June 9, 2016
Let’s talk elections this week. Who’s running them, who’s taking part in them, and how some people want to change them. This week on Open Sources Guelph, we will dive back into the U.S. Presidential Election, not for the last time, to talk about the end of the primary process, but maybe we should rename this segment “What stupid thing has Trump said now?” Meanwhile, a key Canadian political figure threw her support behind one of Mr. Trump’s rivals, while the federal government continues to dawdle about our own electoral reform ambitions. And in the end, we’ll discuss the Toronto by-election, where one good Ford might fill the shoes of another. Continue reading “Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday June 9, 2016”
Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday February 4, 2016
The clown car has sprung a leak. On this week’s Open Sources Guelph we’ll journey to the Hawkeye State where the weird and wild journey of the American presidential race finally lead to some actual voting. Meanwhile, there’s some voting here in Ontario too as a by-election comes to a head, to say nothing of the debate around one of the most controversial trade agreements ever negotiated in total secrecy. Perhaps that’s a lesson to learn as the Royal City begins sitting down with its outside workers, officer staff, and librarians. This week, as it turns out, the show is one big segue.
