Open Sources (Ep. #367) Show Notes for March 3, 2022

This week on Open Sources Guelph, it’s a lot of bad news. Internationally circumstances force us to go back to Ukraine where the war still rages and shows no sign of stopping. More locally, we go back to Nova Scotia to talk about the inquiry into one of Canada’s worst crimes, if not *the* worst crime. In more positive news, we will happily welcome another one of our local upcoming provincial election candidates to the show. Continue reading “Open Sources (Ep. #367) Show Notes for March 3, 2022”

Open Sources (Ep. #366) Show Notes for February 24, 2022

This week on Open Sources Guelph, we’re in search of peace. There’s some of that in Ottawa now, but it’s by no means a guarantee that it’s going to last, which is why we’re dedicating the first half to the show to the Freedom Convoy fallout. Elsewhere, we’re looking at Schrödinger’s war in Ukraine, plus the unofficial kick-off of the 2022 Ontario Provincial Election (though it’s really just the start of the new legislative session). Open Sources (Ep. #362) Show Notes for January 27, 2022

This week on Open Sources Guelph, we’re talking about international matters, and then we will bring things back to the local. First, we will look abroad at a pair of growing crises in Ukraine and Afghanistan and the fallout of a future war and a past one respectively. In the back half of the show, we will have an interview with one of Guelph’s Ward 2 city councillors about the month that’s passed and the year that’s ahead. Open Sources (Ep. #340) Show Notes for August 26, 2021

This week on Open Sources Guelph, we’re back! Did anything happen last week while we were gone? JK. We will play catch-up this week by talking about the fall of Afghanistan and what comes next, plus the current state of COVID in Ontario and what comes next there. As for that election, we will begin our regular series of candidate interviews this week with a familiar face for both the show, and for local activism. Open Sources (Ep. #332) Show Notes for June 24, 2021

This week on Open Sources Guelph it feels like summer. Yes, the House of Commons has wrapped up for the year, but have they wrapped up forever? (Yes, that was an Alice Cooper reference.) Speaking of being out forever, we will talk about the full withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan, while closer to home, we will hear from some members of our Muslim community about their everyday concerns in Canada. Continue reading “Open Sources (Ep. #332) Show Notes for June 24, 2021”

Open Sources (Ep. #324) Show Notes for April 29, 2021

This week on Open Sources Guelph, we don’t have anything snappy to say. The pandemic is getting way out of control in India, and we desperately need a response. Meanwhile, in the United States, where the virus used to be out of control, the POTUS took a sort of victory lap. We’ll talk about that, and we’ll talk to a member of the provincial NDP caucus from a neighbouring riding about the Ontario angle. Continue reading “Open Sources (Ep. #324) Show Notes for April 29, 2021”

Open Sources (Ep. #316) Show Notes for March 4, 2021

This week on Open Sources Guelph, we going to go far north if only in spirit because we can’t presently leave our protective bunkers. Dr. Pierre Fogal, a certified climate change hero, will take us around 80 degrees north this week as we talk about his work and his research at the Arctic Circle. Before that, we will stick closer to home with Alberta politics, and then go far afield with the intelligence report about the high-profile murder of a journalist. Continue reading “Open Sources (Ep. #316) Show Notes for March 4, 2021”
