Open Sources (Ep. #519) Show Notes for May 15, 2025

This week on Open Sources Guelph, we’re making a sad face. Not just about the condition of our New Democratic Party, but also because there’s another flashpoint in the world that’s using violent means to reach violent ends. At least everything local is cool, right? Well, not so fast, because we have another guest from city council who will be stopping by to set us straight. Open Sources (Ep. #489) Show Notes for October 17, 2024

This week on Open Sources Guelph, we’re still hungry after our turkey dinner was interrupted by some late breaking news of national importance. We will catch up with the still breaking news about Indo-Canadian relations in the wake of the expulsion of diplomats, and then we will talk about whether or not the current PM should take his curtain call. As for this week’s guest, he will talk about doing the impossible! Continue reading “Open Sources (Ep. #489) Show Notes for October 17, 2024”

Open Sources (Ep. #442) Show Notes for September 21, 2023

This week on Open Sources Guelph things get serious. Well, they’re pretty serious every week, but it’s not every week that we’re talking about a foreign government allegedly killing a Canadian citizen on Canadian soil. And to think we were going to start this week with talk of grocery prices… So there’s that, plus we’ll talk about the seasonal return of COVID-19 and in local news, we will turn to one of our city councillors about some of the latest doings at 1 Carden Street. Open Sources (Ep. #324) Show Notes for April 29, 2021

This week on Open Sources Guelph, we don’t have anything snappy to say. The pandemic is getting way out of control in India, and we desperately need a response. Meanwhile, in the United States, where the virus used to be out of control, the POTUS took a sort of victory lap. We’ll talk about that, and we’ll talk to a member of the provincial NDP caucus from a neighbouring riding about the Ontario angle. Continue reading “Open Sources (Ep. #324) Show Notes for April 29, 2021”

Open Sources (Ep. #313) Show Notes for February 11, 2021

This week on Open Sources Guelph, we’ve not news, analysis and a healthy dose of informed speculation. We will spend the first half of the show talking about provincial politics as the economy is re-opening and the legislature is returning. In the second half, we will talk about that latest spectacle happening now in the U.S. Capitol, and then we will go to India where farming has become a matter of international interest. Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday August 29, 2019

This week on Open Sources Guelph, we wind down the summer with a relaxing look at the schizophrenic diplomatic situation around the world. Seriously, the global political order is not coming apart at the seams, it just feels like it. Anyway, we’ll talk about that ball of zany that sums up the lost weekend at the France hosted G7, and we’ll look at the seriously explosive situation in Kashmir. Closer to home, we’ll look at the past politics of the Federal Conservative leader, and whether there’s a possibility that a more rational Republican might unseat the standard-bearer in 2020. Continue reading “Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday August 29, 2019”

Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday March 1, 2018

This week is a Canadian affair on Open Sources Guelph. There’s a lot of stuff going on at the federal level, not the least of which is the announcement of the budget, but there’s also still a lot to unpack, and not just luggage, from the PM’s recent Southeast Asian excursion. After that, we’ll talk about our own Conservative leader following in the example of the conservative leader south of the border, and why we’re mad at the major media providers this week.  Continue reading “Open Sources Show Notes for Thursday March 1, 2018”
