Open Sources (Ep. #458) Show Notes for February 15, 2024

This week on Open Sources Guelph, we’re not feeling the love this day post-Valentine’s. We’re going to start local where the Mayor of Guelph declared himself strong, and just in time for a very complicated and emotional meeting about public policy around encampments. Also (sorta) local, we will talk about the impact of the latest round of media job cuts and then it’s off to Queen’s Park for another adventure! Open Sources (Ep. #454) Show Notes for December 14, 2023

This week on Open Sources Guelph, it’s a time for gift returns. What? It’s not even Christmas yet! Well, the provincial government has been doing a lot of returning lately, taking back policy that they themselves developed and they were at it again this week. We’ll talk about that, plus the scapegoating of international students, and for the interview this week, we will roll out the red carper for one of the city councillors who represents CFRU at 1 Carden Street. Open Sources (Ep. #451) Show Notes for November 23, 2023

This week on Open Sources Guelph, many storylines seem to be wrapping up. In the Middle East, there’s a hope for peace after more than a month of war. In Ontario, the third place party is about to find their new number one. Here in Guelph, it’s almost time to pass a new budget, but one city councillor is going to have the last word before the time comes. Join us as we mark American Thanksgiving with some largely Canadian affairs, aka: Just another Thursday on the radio. Continue reading “Open Sources (Ep. #451) Show Notes for November 23, 2023”

Open Sources (Ep. #450) Show Notes for November 16, 2023

This week on Open Sources Guelph, can you smell what the show is cooking?! That’s an old reference, but it might have new relevance if a certain wrestler turned actor decides that he wants to be a politician now. Somehow, this idea is far less concerning than the company that the Premier of Alberta is keeping, and speaking of concerning, we will play host to a member of our local city council who’s going to talk about that big budget conundrum. Continue reading “Open Sources (Ep. #450) Show Notes for November 16, 2023”

Open Sources (Ep. #448) Show Notes for November 2, 2023

This week on Open Sources Guelph, we come down from the Halloween sugar high. A lot’s been happening on the homefront lately so we will take a break from current affairs in the Middle East and look at Queen’s Park, where the government seems buried under a mound of paper released to the press this week. Speaking of getting buried, we will look at if the federal government has buried itself by revisiting its most controversial piece of legislation. And lastly, we have another city council friend to talk with. Continue reading “Open Sources (Ep. #448) Show Notes for November 2, 2023”

Open Sources (Ep. #446) Show Notes for October 19, 2023

This week on Open Sources Guelph, it’s a kind of rerun. On the one hand, there’s still violence in the Middle East and it seems to be getting worse despite the interventions of foreign leaders and aid agencies. On the other hand we’ve got a great big new convoy, except it might not be as big as the previous one, but it’s still kind of annoying. And then, on our hidden third hand, we will talk about local stuff with a member of city council and how that might impact your wallet. Continue reading “Open Sources (Ep. #446) Show Notes for October 19, 2023”

Open Sources (Ep. #442) Show Notes for September 21, 2023

This week on Open Sources Guelph things get serious. Well, they’re pretty serious every week, but it’s not every week that we’re talking about a foreign government allegedly killing a Canadian citizen on Canadian soil. And to think we were going to start this week with talk of grocery prices… So there’s that, plus we’ll talk about the seasonal return of COVID-19 and in local news, we will turn to one of our city councillors about some of the latest doings at 1 Carden Street. Continue reading “Open Sources (Ep. #442) Show Notes for September 21, 2023”
