This week on Open Sources Guelph, we grab some canned programming off the shelf. It’s a pretty busy week at city hall so we can’t really dive into the news as much as we would like to. Instead, we put a call in to a new friend and an old friend to round out our time and chat around the news. First, we will talk to someone uniquely placed in the fight against gender-based violence, and second we’ve got another Green fellow named Mike who’s having a very busy time lately too! Open Sources (Ep. #444) Show Notes for October 5, 2023
This week on Open Sources Guelph we’re thankful for scandal. As we head into the long weekend, we’re going to talk about the ongoing issues facing the House of Commons that have kind of made a mockery of Canada on the international stage. It’s good fodder for a podcast, which might soon be under the regulatory umbrella of the CRTC. In the back half of the show, we’re going to talk about the recent increase in the minimum wage, and why it still isn’t good enough. Continue reading “Open Sources (Ep. #444) Show Notes for October 5, 2023”
Open Sources (Ep. #442) Show Notes for September 21, 2023
This week on Open Sources Guelph things get serious. Well, they’re pretty serious every week, but it’s not every week that we’re talking about a foreign government allegedly killing a Canadian citizen on Canadian soil. And to think we were going to start this week with talk of grocery prices… So there’s that, plus we’ll talk about the seasonal return of COVID-19 and in local news, we will turn to one of our city councillors about some of the latest doings at 1 Carden Street. Continue reading “Open Sources (Ep. #442) Show Notes for September 21, 2023”
Open Sources (Ep. #430) Show Notes for June 15, 2023
This week on Open Sources Guelph, we’re looking for reading material. Let’s go to the bathroom where, naturally, you keep all your state secrets! Speaking of secrets we’ll talk about the ongoing efforts to wrap our head around election interference in the last two Canadian elections, and then we’ll head to the U.S. where a certain Florida Man is making trouble again. For the interview, we’ve got someone local with something to celebrate. Continue reading “Open Sources (Ep. #430) Show Notes for June 15, 2023”
Open Sources (Ep. #428) Show Notes for June 1, 2023
This week on Open Sources Guelph, we will usher in meteorological summer by casting some sunshine on key issues. For instance, there was an election this week in Alberta and it was a close one (relatively speaking in a Alberta terms), and there was more election talk in the House of Common as nobody’s happy with the former Governor General investigating interference. Also, since it’s summer, let’s talk about farming! Continue reading “Open Sources (Ep. #428) Show Notes for June 1, 2023”
Open Sources (Ep. #420) Show Notes for April 6, 2023
This week on Open Sources Guelph, we witness something completely rare and unexpected in our natural world: Accountability. We join, well, everyone in the political world right now by looking to New York City where a certain Florida man had to go to court. Back here in Canada, we were dealing with the fall out of other, more serious crimes, but the back half of the show will be reserved for money matters as Guelph’s MP will tell us why he likes the Federal Budget beyond the obvious. Continue reading “Open Sources (Ep. #420) Show Notes for April 6, 2023”
Open Sources (Ep. #417) Show Notes for March 16, 2023
This week on Open Sources Guelph we’re going to run on the bank like it’s 1929! We shouldn’t joke, people’s livelihoods are at stake, but we’re once again seeing high-risk banking causing big problems, and that’s one of things that we’re going to be talking about on this week’s show. In other news, we will talk about the Canadian government’s face-off with Facebook, and to mark the COVID-19 pandemic’s third birthday, we’re joined by the woman atop our public health planning. Continue reading “Open Sources (Ep. #417) Show Notes for March 16, 2023”
