Open Sources (Ep. #320) Show Notes for April 1, 2021

The original April Fools are back this week with another episode of Open Sources Guelph. We would love to spend the hour making jokes and pulling pranks, but there’s some serious stuff to talk about. We will look at the ever changing pandemic response provincially, and the growing trend of Anti-Asian hate that’s even affected our community. After the break, it’s back to the patio with another Guelph city councillor. Continue reading “Open Sources (Ep. #320) Show Notes for April 1, 2021”

Open Sources (Ep. #319) Show Notes for March 25, 2021

This week on Open Sources Guelph, we’re having Canada Day three months early. Sort of. Our topics this week are all Canada-centric, from the provincial where we just got a new Ontario Budget just six months after the last one, to the national where the Official Opposition might have failed to make a case that anything has changed. After that, we’ve got the update on the Two Michaels and some museum chat(?). Continue reading “Open Sources (Ep. #319) Show Notes for March 25, 2021”

Open Sources (Ep. #313) Show Notes for February 11, 2021

This week on Open Sources Guelph, we’ve not news, analysis and a healthy dose of informed speculation. We will spend the first half of the show talking about provincial politics as the economy is re-opening and the legislature is returning. In the second half, we will talk about that latest spectacle happening now in the U.S. Capitol, and then we will go to India where farming has become a matter of international interest. Continue reading “Open Sources (Ep. #313) Show Notes for February 11, 2021”

Open Sources (Ep. #309) Show Notes for January 14, 2021

This week on Open Sources Guelph, the hits just keep on coming. The blows are physical if you happen to be in Washington D.C., where the Capitol looks like a demilitarized zone due to the actions of the newly re-impeached 45th President of the United States, and let’s not forget the suffering close to home, which is mostly in the form of people coming down with COVID-19. After that, we will remember the man who was called. “The Voice of Guelph.” Continue reading “Open Sources (Ep. #309) Show Notes for January 14, 2021”

Open Sources Show Notes for December 10, 2020

This week on Open Sources Guelph, we’ve got a full slate of the issues that aren’t getting a lot of attention these days. In the first half, we’ll talk about the action to undermine provincial conservation authorities, and the lack of action on homelessness in places across Canada. On top of that, we’ll consult an expert on the topic of hate groups in Canada, and we just might need to dedicate a whole show to discussing all the various under-reported facets there! Continue reading “Open Sources Show Notes for December 10, 2020”

Open Sources Show Notes for November 19, 2020

This week on Open Sources Guelph, we’ve got the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse: Plague, Death, War, and Spite. One of those may not be an actual Horseman, put it is a fairly succinct description of the current occupant of the White House who is letting Plague and Death run unchecked. Things aren’t much better plague-wise speaking here in Ontario, or in the rest of Canada, and that’s where War comes in. He’s got his own room in Alberta and everything! Continue reading “Open Sources Show Notes for November 19, 2020”

Open Sources Show Notes for September 10, 2020

This week on Open Sources Guelph, we’re going Back to School. Not really, but it’s a theme, and we’re going with it as one of the topics of this week’s show. We’re going to talk about the concerns about kids going back to school, and we’re going to talk about Indigenous-Settler relations on an important anniversary. In the back half of the show, we will look at a big issue closer to home in Guelph with one of the representatives from Ward 2. Continue reading “Open Sources Show Notes for September 10, 2020”
