Open Sources (Ep. #478) Show Notes for July 18, 2024

This week on Open Sources Guelph, it was a rough one. Looking south of the border these days is a white knuckle ride through all your fears about the future, and it’s so bad that we have to dedicate the whole first half of our show to talk about American politics. We will then look closer to home and talk to a member of our local city council about a concern that all of us have these days. You know what we’re talking about. Open Sources (Ep. #476) Show Notes for July 4, 2024

This week on Open Sources Guelph, we’re dealing with disappointment. Was it wrong to hope that an 81-year-old man would find the energy at 9 pm on a weeknight to argue with a sociopath for two hours? Maybe, but then again it’s hard for leaders half that age to avoid calls to leave out the side door, at least that is what’s going on our own capital. In terms of good news, we’re going to talk to a community group that is literally making it a cool summer for low income people in Hamilton. Open Sources (Ep. #472) Show Notes for June 6, 2024

This week on Open Sources Guelph, we don’t take the law into our own hands, we go to court with some popcorn. On this episode, many of our news items intersect with justice matters as we talk about the deportation of a national pariah, the trial of a serial killer, a plea deal for a would-be mass murderer, and the unexpected result of a corruption trial in the U.S. Also, because a week can’t go by without him sticking his foot in his mouth, we’ll talk about Ontario’s Premier. Open Sources (Ep. #467) Show Notes for April 18, 2024

This week on Open Sources Guelph, we’re going to have an “orgy of spending.” That’s how one Conservative MP described this year’s federal budget, and we’re going to talk about why, and speaking of elicit sex, we’re going talk about the criminal trial of the former U.S. President. In the back half of the show though we’re going to keep things nice and professional with a future election candidate. Continue reading “Open Sources (Ep. #467) Show Notes for April 18, 2024”

Open Sources (Ep. #463) Show Notes for March 21, 2024

This week on Open Sources Guelph, it’s starting to feel like the bad guys are winning. It’s certainly true that a bad guy won in Russia this week, and he has a friend in the United States who he wants to join him in all the winning, but that’s still be determined because that guy’s got bigger problems. In terms of the smaller problems, we’ll have a guest on to talk about solutions. Continue reading “Open Sources (Ep. #463) Show Notes for March 21, 2024”

Open Sources (Ep. #459) Show Notes for February 22, 2024

This week Open Sources Guelph is dealing bad news. What else is new? From critics silenced to cities under siege, we’re reminded that there’s a world full of danger and destruction out there, which are two things that are closely associated with a specific man who was once President of the United States, and might be again. Meanwhile, closer to home, an old man is almost literally yelling at clouds. Continue reading “Open Sources (Ep. #459) Show Notes for February 22, 2024”

Open Sources (Ep. #438) Show Notes for August 24, 2023

This weekend on Open Sources Guelph, we go from one mess to another. We will look at the political fight to make progress on fighting climate change, and then we will look at the fight to hold Donald Trump to account as he’s arrested again in an entirely different jurisdiction. And finally, for the interview this week, we will talk to a person that’s fighting the good fight on the drug poisoning crisis on our community ahead of a very special occasion. Continue reading “Open Sources (Ep. #438) Show Notes for August 24, 2023”
