This week on Open Sources Guelph we’re going to try and tone down the rhetoric. But can we still be spicy? Probably, the news certainly is! If you think it’s hot up in Ottawa this first week back from summer vacation, just wait until you hear about what’s been going on in the United States lately. And for the interview in the back half, we’ve got a grocery list of issues about food insecurity, and we will be joined someone who knows how to fix them. Open Sources (Ep. #482) Show Notes for August 29, 2024
This week on Open Sources Guelph, we’re getting our bearings. In this late summer mode, we’re looking to the coming election south of the border and the constantly changing game there, meanwhile on this side of the border the Federal Liberals are hoping that they have enough juice to change their own game. Meanwhile, here in Guelph, the game is “musical chairs” and the players are Guelph city council and community members experiencing homelessness. Open Sources (Ep. #479) Show Notes for July 25, 2024
This week on Open Sources Guelph, we need a drink. Good thing the liquor stores are open again, and to talk about why that is and what the workers in those stores are thinking, we’re joined by one of their union leaders on this episode. Why are we drinking? Drama! So much drama in the U.S. Presidential election this week as the odds changed again, and meanwhile, closer to home, we’ve got some big decisions to make in terms of our own defence.

Open Sources (Ep. #478) Show Notes for July 18, 2024
This week on Open Sources Guelph, it was a rough one. Looking south of the border these days is a white knuckle ride through all your fears about the future, and it’s so bad that we have to dedicate the whole first half of our show to talk about American politics. We will then look closer to home and talk to a member of our local city council about a concern that all of us have these days. You know what we’re talking about. Continue reading “Open Sources (Ep. #478) Show Notes for July 18, 2024”
Open Sources (Ep. #476) Show Notes for July 4, 2024
This week on Open Sources Guelph, we’re dealing with disappointment. Was it wrong to hope that an 81-year-old man would find the energy at 9 pm on a weeknight to argue with a sociopath for two hours? Maybe, but then again it’s hard for leaders half that age to avoid calls to leave out the side door, at least that is what’s going on our own capital. In terms of good news, we’re going to talk to a community group that is literally making it a cool summer for low income people in Hamilton. Open Sources (Ep. #472) Show Notes for June 6, 2024
This week on Open Sources Guelph, we don’t take the law into our own hands, we go to court with some popcorn. On this episode, many of our news items intersect with justice matters as we talk about the deportation of a national pariah, the trial of a serial killer, a plea deal for a would-be mass murderer, and the unexpected result of a corruption trial in the U.S. Also, because a week can’t go by without him sticking his foot in his mouth, we’ll talk about Ontario’s Premier. Open Sources (Ep. #467) Show Notes for April 18, 2024
This week on Open Sources Guelph, we’re going to have an “orgy of spending.” That’s how one Conservative MP described this year’s federal budget, and we’re going to talk about why, and speaking of elicit sex, we’re going talk about the criminal trial of the former U.S. President. In the back half of the show though we’re going to keep things nice and professional with a future election candidate. Continue reading “Open Sources (Ep. #467) Show Notes for April 18, 2024”
