Open Sources (Ep. #526) Show Notes for July 3, 2025

This week on Open Sources Guelph, we’re hung over. Not from imbibing too much over the Canada Day long weekend, but from all the news we had to process in the first six months of 2025. We survived two elections, the creation and implosion of DOGE, a million different micro-scandals both stupid and corrupt, and, yes, some good news. How are we supposed to make sense of any of this? How about an awards show? Continue reading “Open Sources (Ep. #526) Show Notes for July 3, 2025”

Open Sources (Ep. #500) Show Notes for January 2, 2024

This week on Open Sources Guelph there’s cause for celebration! Not only is this our annual year-end (or year-beginning in this case) awards show, but it’s also our 500th episode and the start of year 11 for OSG! It’s a good thing we have all that to look forward to because this revisiting of 2024 had us bummed in a major way. Enjoy the fun gang, because it might be the last we’ll have for a while! Open Sources (Ep. #457) Show Notes for January 4, 2024

This week on Open Sources Guelph, we start 2024 by looking back at 2023. It’s that time again for our annual political awards show, and for nearly 10 years we’ve given out the hardware in some very specific categories that capture all the best and the worst of a given year, and as usual there might be more of one than the other. You know what? Let’s keep hope alive because we’re now in our tenth year of doing this and we’re still going strong! Continue reading “Open Sources (Ep. #457) Show Notes for January 4, 2024”

So put on your tux, book your limousine, and pop the champagne as we usher in the new year with the OSGenies (Thoughts on the name?). Open Sources (Ep. #358) Show Notes for December 30, 2021

This week on Open Sources Guelph, we will leave behind a year that introduced us to this guy, the Q Shaman, who broke into the U.S. Capitol with a few thousand of his friends, and then complained about not getting served organic food while in prison post-break-in. The Q Shaman was the mascot for an otherwise terrible 52 weeks of high-octane political and pandemic drama. As usual, we end the year with some awards. Continue reading “Open Sources (Ep. #358) Show Notes for December 30, 2021”

Open Sources Show Notes for December 31, 2020

This week on Open Sources Guelph, we’ve made it! We’re at the end of 2020!! We still have to make it to midnight, and a lot can happen between now and then, but this year is almost history, and hopefully so are most of the troubles that went with it. Before all that though, we will do what we do every year at this time, and have the annual Open Sources awards, which we still don’t have a name fore, but are very prestigious just the same. Continue reading “Open Sources Show Notes for December 31, 2020”

Open Sources Show Notes for January 2, 2020

It’s the beginning of year six here on Open Sources Guelph, and, as usual, the season starts with one of our recurring annual bits, the Awards Show. It started as the yearly cap stone on the old Beyond the Ballot Box show, and the work continues on this fifth edition of the OSG version as we take a step back before diving into a new political year. Once again, we will be bringing you our picks in four categories covering all the good, the bad, and the ugly that we lived through in 2019.
